The Red Cross Society of China, along with the National Health Commission and the National Radio and Television Administration, hosted a first-aid competition in Shanghai on Nov 27.
Ten groups of first-aiders, honored as this year's "most beautiful first-aiders" out of more than 100 teams, showcased their emergency care knowledge and skills during the competition, which is aimed to boost social engagement in first-aid training and enhance public emergency response.
According to Sun Shuopeng, deputy director of the Red Cross Society of China, the organization has trained and issued certifications to 15.26 million people and equipped 83,000 automated external defibrillators in schools, neighborhoods, bus stations, and other public venues in the past five years.
Over the next five years, the organization said it aims to train 16 million more people to obtain its first-aid certifications. Further efforts will also be made to enhance the quality and efficiency of its training programs.
